Things to see in SF..

Things to see:
Golden Gate Bridge – Walk about halfway across, absolutely amazing. If you do anything do this.
Ocean Beach – You can take a 38 Geary bus out there in about an hour, great view of the Pacific
Twin Peaks – Best view of the city, a pain to get out to
Farmers Market – The ferry station at the Embarcadero, early on the weekends, best regional produce
Bay Tours – Caught from the charter fleet berth at Pier 38 1/2th. There are 4 or 5 boats that line the waterfront, there will be barkers trying to fill the boats. No reservation required they just go when the boat is full, usually every 20 minutes or so. They cost $10 for an hour+ tour of the bay. Takes you along the water front, out under the Golden Gate, and around Alcatraz. I _highly_ recommend this.

Neighborhoods:
The Mission: Take the Bart to 16th Street station, walk up mission to 24th and take Bart back. Lots of good food, some of the best Mexican food in the world. There is also a great sausage & beer place at 24th called Rosamundes . At night there are a ton of great dive bars, mostly near 16th Street. Dalva, Kilowatt, Delirium, Amnesia, Monks Kettle, etc.
J-Town: Japanese and Korean food, shops & architecture. Take the 38 bus from Union Square and get off at Filmore St. Good Japanese food, lots of fun shops and stuff in the mall. The New People building is fun http://www.newpeopleworld.com/.
China Town: The world’s largest concentrated Chinese population outside of China. Lots of food and shopping and tourists.
North Beach: Decent nightlife, lots of cool places to check out, near to China Town.
The Haight: To get there take the 71 bus from Market Street (the little islands in the center) or the N-Judah which is part of the muni system attached to the downtown Bart stations. Take the N and get off at Cole, walk down cole to The Haight. Divided into lower and upper sections – The Upper Haight is famous, especially near Ashbury. There is a GREAT dvd/cd store called Amoeba that you can get lost in for hours.

Bars:
The Redwood Room – at the Clift hotel, 5 minute walk from Bart, cool to see
The View – 39th floor of the Marriort, best view passable drinks, close to Bart
Beretta – 23th and Valencia, best cocktails in the City, near to the 24th St. Bart station.
Bourbon and Branch – prohibition era speakeasy, great cocktails but gets crowded. Fun to see and a great concept.

Art Galleries:
SFMoma – near downtown, modern art gallery
DeYoung – Golden Gate Park, our new modern art gallery
Legion of Honor – Presidio, classical art gallery, amazing views, close to the ocean.
